12:12 brings together a broad cross-section of the RHODES roster. Rather than working to a prescribed theme, each artist was invited to present work that reflects their practice at its strongest, resulting in an exhibition that celebrates the breadth, individuality and quality of contemporary art across the gallery.
Helen Bermingham
Helen Bermingham’s paintings explore the relationship between memory, time and the unconscious, creating psychological spaces where fragments of experience are reimagined through the materiality of paint. Through a process of repetition, layering and intuitive mark-making, she builds evolving visual worlds where past gestures are transformed into new compositions, blurring the boundaries between recollection, fiction and invention.
Carsten Beck
Inspired by architecture, shifting light and the geometric interplay of shadow, Carsten Beck creates meticulously balanced compositions that evoke the clarity and optimism of mid-century design. While rooted in a restrained architectural language, his recent works embrace a richer palette, introducing bold colour to bring a new warmth and vitality to his distinctive visual style.
Morag Caister
Morag Caister's distinctive portrait paintings combine expressive brushwork with an acute sensitivity to colour and character. Her works capture intimate moments of contemplation, exploring identity, memory and human connection through a contemporary figurative language.
Delia Hamer
Delia Hamer's paintings draw on mythology, spirituality and the symbolic power of nature, creating immersive compositions rich in colour and texture. Influenced by her upbringing in southern Spain, recurring motifs of water, citrus fruit and Mediterranean landscapes evoke themes of renewal, transformation and ritual.
Eleanor Johnson
Eleanor Johnson creates richly layered figurative paintings that sit between abstraction and representation, using fluid oil paint and biomorphic forms to explore the body, transformation and the instability of memory. Drawing inspiration from Baroque painting, mythology and the grotesque, her compositions combine technical rigour with an imaginative, contemporary sensibility that balances beauty, ambiguity and psychological depth.
Yool Kim
Yool Kim creates dreamlike paintings in which swans, flowers and symbolic forms become quiet meditations on memory, belonging and the natural world. Richly detailed and intricately composed, her works possess the delicate quality of woven tapestries, with figures tenderly entwined in moments of intimacy and connection.
Jihye Park
Jihye Park's paintings explore the relationship between humanity and nature, examining the shifting boundary between interior and exterior worlds. Combining carefully observed natural forms with imagined spaces, her work encourages a deeper appreciation of our connection to the environment
Camilla Perkins
Camilla Perkins creates vibrant dreamlike landscapes and still lifes inspired by gardens, travel and cherished memories. Working with richly layered colour and intricate pattern, her paintings celebrate the beauty of nature while exploring themes of family, place and nostalgia.
Kevin Sabo
Kevin Sabo's highly recognisable paintings combine humour, theatricality and sharp social observation through stylised figurative compositions. Drawing on influences from drag culture, fashion and everyday life, his work playfully explores identity, gender and performance.
Nick Smith
Nick Smith is celebrated for his signature pixelated paintings, translating iconic imagery into meticulously arranged colour chips inspired by digital palettes. His work examines perception, memory and popular culture, rewarding both close inspection and distant viewing.
Cat Spilman
Cat Spilman creates expressive abstract paintings defined by gestural mark-making, luminous colour and layered surfaces. Her intuitive compositions explore themes of motherhood, identity and belonging, balancing spontaneity with carefully considered structure.
Martha Zmpounou
Martha Zmpounou's atmospheric paintings capture fleeting moments of light, landscape and memory through soft, layered compositions. Her practice embraces subtle shifts in colour and texture, creating quietly immersive works that evoke stillness and contemplation.
